Why the Revolution?

Every human being on the planet has a vested interest in making the world a better place; and whether we think that is true or not will determine if our civilization will rise or fall.

As humans, we have empathy, compassion, giving, and mercy at the core of our being – these traits are keys to how we were able to survive and thrive as a species – by working together, creating civilizations and cultures that shared resources and innovations, in order to become successful in our environments.

Much of this good work continues today. Billions of individuals on this planet are working every day to create better lives for others, whether they are teachers or doctors or farmers or builders or cleaners or servers or learners. We all try to use what skills and resources we have in order to bring greater comfort or prosperity to our immediate environment, our families, our organizations, and our world.

What is going wrong is that the institutions and systems we have created to ‘manage’ large populations of humans and the land and resources of the Earth, appear not to use the standards of compassion, altruism, caring and humanity that have allowed us to succeed thus far. They have deviated into material greed, possessiveness, domination and exploitation; traits which all cultures across the world generally classify as not desirable, in individuals or in societies.

Today the ads and shows (programming) we are constantly bombarded with present and reinforce the illusion that we are separate from other types of people, that we are not good enough as we are, and that without material accumulation, we will be unhappy. None of these messages are true, as a moment of quiet reflection allows us to know.

The messages that humans need to be spreading and receiving are that we belong together, that we are valued, valuable, and worthy, and that happiness comes to us when we make the world around us happy.

The problem is that the current economic, military, political and even sometimes religious systems that dominate our world have become inhuman. They appear to lack the moral ethics of helping, caring, including and cherishing that we as individuals, families, and communities must use in order to thrive.

Somehow the most powerful institutions in the world have come to be organized and dominated by corporations with no conscience, controlling our world in ways that we are naturally morally averse to, but often feel powerless to fight against. This is partly because they have turned us to fighting each other instead of turning on them, and partly because they have stolen the power over generations of careful manipulation.

We must change the program. We must change the system.

We are a species with enormous intellectual, technological, and altruistic capabilities. In times of natural disaster we see proof that people will naturally work together to help strangers, even sometimes if it puts themselves into danger.

We want to see our children and their children grow up in a world and a time which is better and more advanced than our own. And so it will be if we turn our attention to what we fundamentally believe in. Growing, supporting, and guiding our world in the creation of new systems that function primarily to support the healthy continuation of life through cooperation and compassion.

To do this, we must leave the greed, violence, injustice and exploitation behind.

The good news is that even the political, military, corporate, and religious leaders are humans too. They’ve all had mothers, friends, and loved ones. We trust that they’ve all been taught basic morality, as have we all. And everyone, everywhere, can change their minds and alter the course that they are on. The simple truth of the Revolution is that it is meant for everyone.

We can change the programming to spread messages of cooperation, peace, and generosity. We can show our children what a better world looks like, and model the pinnacle human behaviours of bravery, creativity, and kindness so they can see how much difference one person can make when they strive to make the world a better place.

We will not wait for the current diseased systems to decay the human family into oblivion. We will stand up and organize ourselves. We will overcome the structures that aim to keep us small, captive, and alone. We will breathe life into creative solutions, spread messages of hope, and give opportunities to others so that they may do their best work, and we will bring humanity back to relation as a family.

Let us be united. Let us be organized. Let us be relentless.

It is the Revolution we’ve been waiting for.
